Between the popularity of Game of Thrones and the rise of affordable international airfare we talked about in Episode 159, Iceland has become a “hot” travel destination. By now, most have seen at least one incredible picture of the country of Fire and Ice. Does it live up to the pictures? Has its popularity diminished its charm too much already? Is it difficult to get to this seemingly remote destination and then around it to see the country’s varied sights and landscapes? New Zealand is an island nation in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses and 600 smaller islands. New Zealand is a small country, similar in size to Great Britain or Japan. With a population of only four million people it’s also gloriously uncrowded. Peter and his husband Kevin took a two week vacation to New Zealand for Kevin’s 40th birthday celebration and their only regret in visiting is they wish they could have stayed longer. Peter is here to share favorite parts of his trip, and to share recommendations for those wishing to travel to this beautiful destination.
