In past episodes of the podcast, we’ve talked a lot about Holland America and their Alaska itineraries. But did you know that they sail to many destinations other than Alaska? Donna was offered a chance to go on the Nieuw Statendam ship that sails out of Ft Lauderdale on a Caribbean voyage. She’s here tonight to tell us about her experiences.

In 2019, right before the world shut down, Sandy and Elizabeth were thrilled to participate in inaugural sailing of the Norwegian Encore. Fast forward about 20 months, and they were once again on the Encore participating in the Great Cruise Comeback, NCL’s first sailing after shutting down for Covid. That sailing took them to Alaska for 2 nights. Now that the Encore is sailing from Miami, Sandy wanted to check it out again on a longer sailing so that she could spend some more time on board. In early January of 2023 she sailed with some family and friends and is here to tell us all about it.

Have you ever found yourself in the midst of one vacation, already mentally planning out exactly what you would next time- do if you only had more time?
London is one of those magical cities that no matter how many times you visit- there is always a new way to experience it! This past spring Lindsay found herself with a little over a week to spare between work trips and took advantage of the opportunity to revisit London on her very first official “ Workcation”.
With the understanding that she would maintain a semi regular work day from the hotel and would squeeze in sightseeing and fun when she could. She impulsively bought tickets to Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Cinderella, booked air & hotel and somehow resisted the deeply ingrained urge to pre plan every single day- she headed to London with no real agenda and is here to share her adventure with us!

So tonight, we want to ask her all about her experiences on board and share insights about traveling this famous American river.

Although it always welcomed tourists, Iceland wasn’t on a lot of bucket lists until two big events in pop culture: The famous Icelandic “Viking Clap” from the UEFA Euro 2016 games and of course, Game of Thrones. Since then, Iceland tourism is booming. And one of the many ways folks are experiencing it is through the multi-day layover option that Iceland Air offers… drawing you in with inexpensive fares non-stop to Reykjavik and then allowing you to connect 1-7 days later to your next European destination at no additional cost.
But is it really worth it to only lay over for a day or two? What can you really do in that time? Is it worth it? Lindsay has done this on one of her many European adventures and Elizabeth also recently spent only a couple of days in Iceland before a cruise. So we thought we would explore how much you could do in just a day or two.

Vancouver, located on the southern Pacific coast of British Columbia, is one of Canada’s most diverse cities. From Granville Island, through the neighborhoods of Yaletown, Gastown, and Chinatown, and on up to Stanley Park, there is truly something for everyone. And because Vancouver is the 4th largest cruise ship terminal in the world, chances are, if you’re going to Alaska, Vancouver will be on your itinerary. We highly recommend taking a few extra days to explore this city, which is exactly what Lindsay and Sandy did last summer.

We get the question a lot – which is better, Disneyland or Walt Disney World? The truth is, we have our favorites in both. And as it turns out, the same is true of Universal Studios. Recently we were able to experience the west coast parks, so we thought it would be fun to settle it once and for all, which coast is better?
