Episode 322: Getting a good nights sleep when you travel

I think we can all agree that getting a good night’s sleep is essential to travelling, but unfortunately that is rarely the case. Sleeping in a strange bed or no bed at all can leave you grumpy and with a short fuse. This week we want to share some of our favorite things to help get that magical night’s rest to start your day with a smile.

Episode 319: Miami

It’s tough to know where you can go nowadays, and many Americans are turning to domestic travel. Here at Outlander Travel, we are no different, so for our agency meeting this year, we decided we had enough of the Zoom calls and we wanted to get OUT! So some of us fled to Miami Beach for training, site visits, and, let’s face it… you know they had a cocktail or two as well. Sandy, Donna, Lindsay, and Elizabeth all were there so tonight, I thought I would ask them about what they learned and how they found Miami to be handling tourism now with the pandemic looming over everyone’s head.

Episode 316: Heritage Travel – Finding Your Roots (Part 2)

Last week, we opened up the discussion about Heritage travel by speaking with two research librarians who shared how to get started discovering your roots and heritage. But once you do that, it’s time to plan your “journey to the past.” You’ll want to visit the towns and cities where your ancestors once lived and worked and played. Maybe you will even have enough information to find your ancestral home! Planning travel to discover family history is one of the most popular and sometimes the most complex undertakings, so you will want your travel agent to help you make it the best trip it can be.

Tonight, we are excited to welcome Michelle Bartlett to the podcast. Michelle is a Business Development Manager with Authentic Vacations, one of our preferred partners to work with. We asked her to join us today because this is a type of travel we often turn to her company to assist us with, especially for our clients whose roots reach back to Ireland and Scotland.

Episode 315: Heritage Travel – Finding your roots.

We have all seen the commercials. How a man always thought he was one nationality and through thorough research found out he was mostly another nationality; or the woman who had been adopted and knew nothing of her ancestry, but found out through DNA testing what part of South America she was from. It is amazing and can be a bit overwhelming all of the information out there to help you find your roots. To help us wade through all of this, we have invited our favorite travelling librarian, Heidi Rodriguez. If you haven’t heard our podcast before, Heidi is a local adult services librarian for Wake County, North Carolina. She has helped countless patrons of the library with their own ancestral research and we are very lucky to have her. Accompanying Heidi, s her co-worker Pam Wiggins. Pam has worked in the library for 28 years and specializes in genealogical research.
