One of the most exciting travel developments of the past year has been the US re-opening travel to Cuba after 50 years. There are still certain restrictions and criteria you have to meet, but most people agree that this is an exciting time to go. Lindsay was recently able to cross this off her bucket list and she’s excited to share what she learned on her trip!

It opened in 2011 and showcases the Hawaiian culture and beauty while throwing in what we like to call the “Disney difference”. It has one of the world’s best airports and more than 5 million international visitors flock there annually. So perhaps it’s time for YOU to plan a trip. So let’s get started!

Episode 90: Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is a 20 minute high speed ferry ride from Cancun, but a million miles removed from Cancun’s urban scene.  The island in the Caribbean Sea is less than 5 miles long with 15,000 inhabitants, and features beaches, as well as a dramatic and rocky coast line (depending on what side of the island you are on).  You can snorkel, zip line, tool around on a golf cart, or do nothing on one of the most magnificent beaches in the world, Playa Norte. Learn about this tropical paradise!

Episode 87: Traveling Through Reading and Reading to Travel

This week Outlander Travel is embracing it’s literary roots. You may remember me referring to my “previous life” as a librarian. This week I’ve invited some of my literary-minded, librarian “squad” to discuss how books can inspire travel, and how we can help you create itineraries that allow you to visit some of your favorite settings. Janet has worked for over 20 years as a librarian.  During that time she has had various roles; she has led books clubs, answered reference questions, helped children with their schoolwork and recommended books for purchase.  And then there’s her favorite task, helping people find a good book to read. Dan has worked connecting people and books for over twenty years in both bookstores and public libraries. He is the Adult Services Manager at our local library system and he co-manages programs for the library system around recreational reading, including author visits.

Books and travel go together perfectly. Listen in and discover some great ideas and resources for your vacation reads. Travel to Ireland through the novels of Maeve Binchy…Eat, Pray and Love around the world…explore the south of Pat Conroy…when we travel by book, the choices are endless!

Episode 86: What’s Up with TSA?

You may have noticed recent stories in the news about long lines at airports. I’m talking really really long lines! There were even reports in May of travelers having to spend the night at the airport in Chicago because flights were missed. So what’s up with TSA? This week we wanted to talk about some reasons for the wait, and some things you can do as a passenger to keep the effects to a minimum.

Do you have a TSA experience you’d like to share? Leave us a comment.

Lindsay and Sandy were just in San Juan for a convention and they have a lot of exciting experiences to share with us.
